Rossdales Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre is one of Europe’s largest and most advanced diagnostic and surgical centres and has an international reputation for providing clinical excellence and specialist expertise, coupled with the cutting edge technology and first class facilities.

Hospital

Facilities at our fully equipped equine hospital include:

  • 30 stables on our main hospital yard, plus a further 8 stables on Middle Yard
  • Dedicated examination boxes
  • Multiple induction and recovery boxes
  • Separate theatres for orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery
  • Self-contained isolation facilities in our purpose-built medical intensive care unit (MICU) with 4 stables 
  • Neonatal and older foal intensive care unit (NICU)
  • Adult intensive care unit

Diagnostic Centre

Adjacent to our hospital building is our purpose-built diagnostic centre, where facilities  include:

  • A further 33 boxes
  • Dedicated examination and treatment rooms
  • A standing surgical suite for a variety of surgical procedures, including laparoscopy, laser surgery and advanced dentistry techniques

For lameness work ups, our vets have the benefit of: 

  • A dedicated lameness examination area with hard, medium and soft surfaces for lungeing and trotting up 
  • An all-weather arena for ridden assessments

We offer a comprehensive array of imaging modalities, which include:

  • Standing MRI
  • Computed tomography (CT)
  • Nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan)
  • Ceiling-mounted radiography suite and multiple portable digital radiography systems
  • Multiple state-of-the-art digital ultrasound scanners
  • Full range of endoscopy services, including overground endoscopy, videoendoscopy and gastroscopy
  • Exercising ECG
  • Real-time fluoroscopy for use in theatre

There is a large reception and waiting room area in our Diagnostic Centre, where you can sit and have tea and coffee whilst your horse is being assessed or treated.

Laboratories

Our clinicians additionally have the benefit of our state-of-the-art laboratories in Newmarket, where our team of specialist pathologists and experienced lab technicians provide the widest range of diagnostic laboratory tests available to equine practitioners.
