Working closely with our clients, our vets are highly experienced in dealing with racehorses at every stage in their career and aim to minimise the days lost out of training due to sickness or injury.
Our routine stable work is tailored to the individual trainer’s requirements and we can offer a full range of services on yard: from carrying out regular trot-ups, endoscopy, vaccinations, dental care and taking routine blood samples, to administering joint medications and sports horse medicine. We can additionally offer advice on nutrition, worming programmes and all other aspects of routine healthcare.
Our vets have access to a full range of portable diagnostic equipment and routinely perform:
- Lameness examinations using digital radiography and ultrasonography
- Upper airway assessments using endoscopy and overground endoscopy
- Visualisation of the stomach for gastric ulcers using videoendoscopy and gastroscopy
Laboratory Support for Trainers
Our in-house laboratory, Rossdales Laboratories, provides a rapid turnaround service for obtaining quick and accurate results for blood tests, tracheal washes and swabs. Our lab team includes specialists in veterinary pathology and internal medicine, who can provide expert analysis, when required.
24-Hour Emergency & Referral Service
Our veterinary services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergencies such as colic, fractures, wounds and any other problems that may require our immediate attention. Out of hours, there is always a vet on call. Our ambulatory services are backed up by direct access to our Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre for more complex cases and for those horses that require hospitalisation for surgery or medical attention.
