We offer a number of veterinary externship options for veterinary undergraduate students who have entered the clinical years of their training and wish to see practice. Visits may be two to four weeks’ duration, depending on which programme is offered. See full details of our Options for Seeing Practice.
Students will be based either in Exning at the hospital or the diagnostic centre, or in Newmarket with our ambulatory/racing teams, or during the breeding season they may be offered a stud farm option, where they will be assigned to a particular vet and experience all aspects of stud work.
We also have branch practices in Hertfordshire (Hinxworth) and Lambourn. If you wish to see first opinion practice at either of these locations, please select the option of choice in the ‘Preferred Assignment’ boxes on our online application form.
Any senior veterinary student, who is aiming for a career in equine practice, is welcome to apply for an externship position with us providing they are enthusiastic, hard-working and keen to get involved.
International Students are welcome to apply for an EMS placement with Rossdales Veterinary Surgeons. Please note, however, that it is the individual student’s responsibility to ensure they have the correct visa in place to visit the UK for the full period of the placement for which they are applying.
