Our experienced stud farm vets carry out foal and yearling inspections at your premises. In collaboration with owners, stud staff, farriers and equine nutritionists the routine assessment of young stock from birth through to the start of a horse’s athletic career helps avoid and manage costly developmental disorders.
The growing horse is assessed for angular limb deformities, developmental orthopaedic and medical conditions. Special care and attention is given, together with farriers, to foot conditions and balance as they relate to conformation. Hoof trimming and acrylic hoof extensions are proposed and discussed with farriers. Where necessary surgical techniques are considered.
Pre-sales radiography and videoendoscopy strategies to prepare foals and yearlings for the sales are recommended to help breeders and vendors optimise sales results for each individual.
