World-renowned expertise
Our diagnostic imaging team has particular expertise in MRI and CT. We offer an image reading service and MRI/CT consultancy to equine practices both in the UK and around the world. Additionally, the team is regularly publishing research work undertaken at Rossdales and is involved in developing new imaging techniques.
When is MRI appropriate?
Examples of types of injury suitable for evaluation using MRI include:
- Lameness localised to the feet:
- Bone and soft tissue injuries and degenerative disease
- Foot penetrations
- Hoof wall masses
- Further investigations of fetlock associated lameness
- Further investigation of lameness related to the tendon sheath
- Further investigation of palmar/plantar metacarpal/metatarsal soft tissue injuries including suspensory ligaments in front and hindlimbs
- Carpal and carpal heath pathologies
- Specific tarsal pathologies
Our specialist clinicians will discuss and advise the most appropriate imaging options. Following MRI examination, we will explain the findings to clients and referring veterinary surgeons. We can discuss the options available for treatment and the prognosis for future soundness. We can advise the referring veterinary practice regarding treatment at home, or referring veterinary surgeons may request that some treatments are carried out at Rossdales prior to discharge.
Please contact our imaging team at Rossdales Diagnostic Centre on 01638 577754 to discuss or refer a case or our to enquire about our teleradiology service.
