The Riding for the Disabled Association’s horses and ponies provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with a range of disabilities throughout Hertfordshire.
With a national network of 500 volunteer groups, the RDA has been carrying out life-changing activities for over 40 years. Its 18,000 instructors and volunteers organise and lead activities such as riding, carriage driving, stable management, vaulting, showjumping and Hippotherapy for up to 28,000 people each year.
RDA has nine volunteer groups in Hertfordshire. Each group is self-funded and relies on volunteers and donations. Some groups are small; others are larger but they all offer the opportunity for life enhancing experiences for children and adults alike. The movement of the pony gives great physical therapy whilst confidence is boosted and a sense of independence is given.
“We firmly believe that ‘it’s what you can do that counts’ whether you are a rider, volunteer or supporter.”
RDA’s Hertfordshire groups are Digswell Place, Gaddesden Place, Harpenden, Herts & Essex Border, North Herts., Rossway, Stevenage & District, Warrenwood, Waverley Driving.
Help us support the RDA this autumn at Rossdales Hertfordshire’s Understanding Complementary Equine Therapies event. A Raffle for RDA will be held during the evening for some super prizes. All proceeds of the raffle will be donated directly to the RDA.
