On Thursday, 6th and Thursday, 13th December we are offering our Rossdales Hertfordshire clients reduced price gastroscopy appointments with two of our internal medicine specialists from Newmarket. The appointment will be held at your yard and the cost will be £175 per horse, which includes sedation, the visit fee and VAT.
Gastric ulcers are common in horses, with reported prevalence of up to 50-90% in adult horses, depending on age, performance and management of the population evaluated.
Clinical signs of gastric ulcers can be variable and range from pain on girth tightening, recurrent colic, poor body condition and weight loss, reduced appetite, poor performance and changes in temperament. In some horses the signs can be very subtle and are often wrongly interpreted as behavioural issues, back pain or an unwillingness to work. The only way to confirm whether or not your horse is suffering from gastric ulcers is by gastroscopy. Once a diagnosis has been made, appropriate treatment can commence and our specialist vets can advise dietary and management changes for your horse or pony.
If you are concerned that your horse or pony may be suffering from gastric ulcers and would like to book an appointment for a gastroscopy on one of the above dates, please contact our office on 01462 790221, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
