On Tuesday, 10th October, we were pleased to welcome students from Newmarket Academy to Rossdales Equine Hospital as part of the Godolphin-sponsored 'Future Champions Education Week'.
The whole of Year 8 - 128 students - visited the hospital, arriving in three groups of more than 40 students throughout the day. Divided into two smaller groups, each group took part in an interactive session led by vet nurse Veronica Brandel and had a guided tour of the hospital. The groups then came back to the main hospital meeting room for a short talk about the practice from Rossdales partner and surgeon Tim Barnett.
Throughout 'Future Champions Education Week', as well as visiting Rossdales, the students visited Dalham Hall Stud, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art and Newmarket Racecourse, where they even had a race named after the school. You can view a short video summarising the week's events here.
This was the third year that Rossdales has participated in this project, which was judged to be a great success by all involved.
