We have produced three new breeding factsheets with useful information to assist smaller-scale breeders.
Our 'Breeding' factsheet focuses on routine health care for your mares and foals, which is an important part of disease prevention and control. It is just as important to carry out vaccinations, worm control, routine dental care and disease monitoring in these horses as it is in non-breeding, adult horses and our breeding factsheet provides useful advice on all of these aspects.
Our second factsheet focuses on 'The Mare'. As the time approaches for your mare to give birth, we’ve compiled some useful facts about the key stages in the foaling process and indicated when you should seek veterinary assistance.
Our third factsheet is about 'The Foal'. It’s important to monitor carefully the first few hours of a healthy newborn foal and to recognise any problems at an early stage. This factsheet provides some useful advice, facts and again describes when you should seek veterinary assistance.
