Light Blush made her racecourse debut a winning one at Newmarket’s July Festival on 13th July, in the Rossdales British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Plus 10 Race).
Trained in Newmarket by Charlie Appleby, the Godolphin-owned 3-year-old filly started as 5/2F and was given a strong ride by jockey James Doyle. Although running a little green at times, Light Blush, who is by leading stallion Kodiac, stayed on well inside the final furlong and finished ¾ length in front of the Michael Bell-trained Craylands, with Award Scheme, who is owned by HM The Queen, a further ¾ length back in third for trainer William Haggas.
Rossdales partner Ollie Pynn congratulated the winning connections during the presentation in the picturesque surroundings of the winner's enclosure on The July Course. He was joined in the parade ring before the race by fellow partner Tim Barnett, vets Lucy Grieve and Millie Lawrence, and secretary Rachel Clay, who presented the prize for the Best Turned Out horse to Barry Lusted, the groom of Frankel’s Storm, who is trained by Mark Johnston.
