We’re pleased to welcome James Evans BVetMed MRCVS, who has joined our team of veterinary surgeons at Rossdales Hertfordshire.
James grew up in Hertfordshire and has returned to his roots, adding further strength in depth to our Rossdales Hertfordshire veterinary team, which includes Sarah Moore, Kate Hannigan and Ria Chalder.
He graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2011, where he then became part of the Equine Referral Hospital team as one of the Junior Clinical Training Scholars. He has subsequently worked in a number of equine and mixed practices in the Home Counties, working with a wide variety of horses and ponies across all disciplines, from the much-loved family pony to some of the top polo teams, event and competition horses.
James is an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian. He was nominated for the Merial Eqvalan Duo Equine Thesis of the Year Award 2011 for his final year research project entitled “The relationship between speed and stride frequency in racehorses with and without catastrophic limb fractures”. The following year he was invited to present this research project at the International Congress on Equine Locomotion in Stromsholm, Sweden. He has also been published in the Equine Veterinary Journal.
Although James has experience in all aspects of equine veterinary work, he has a particular interest in orthopaedics and dentistry. He said: “I’m delighted to join the excellent team at Rossdales Hertfordshire. Having already worked in practices across Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties, I’m familiar with the area and very much looking forward to meeting our clients and their horses
James is an accomplished rider and has worked as a riding extra with the stunt team in the films “To Kill a King”, “Jack the Giant Slayer” and “Snow White and the Huntsman”. He is a keen cricketer and when time permits, he also enjoys playing golf, football and rugby.
