We are proud to announce that three of our Hospital and Diagnostic Centre vets have been successful in passing diploma exams in their respective fields.
Partner Sarah Boys Smith (top image) passed her exams in January to become a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR). Sarah already holds a diploma from the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) specialist. There are only twelve such ACVSMR (Equine) Diplomates within the UK and only five within the UK that have both ACVSMR and ECVS credentials.
Catriona (Cat) Mackenzie has recently been awarded Diplomate status by the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM) after passing her exams. She completed a three-year residency at the University of Liverpool before rejoining the practice in March 2017 as a member of our medicine team. Cat joins Celia Marr and Emily Haggett as one of three Diplomates in Equine Internal Medicine on our hospital team.
Finally, Vanessa Peter, our Resident in Diagnostic Imaging, has just passed her theoretical examination towards becoming a Diplomate of the European College of Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI), Large Animal Track. Vanessa is due to complete her three-year residency in June, after which she will be ‘Board-Eligible’. Upon successful completion of her practical exams in January, she will be awarded diplomate status.
Along with the news that Partner Lewis Smith has been awarded Fellowship of the RCVS, the respective successes of Sarah, Cat and Vanessa mean that Rossdales has further strengthened our team’s specialist expertise available to our clients. Our hospital now has ten specialists in different veterinary disciplines, with access to a further four consultants who hold diplomate status. With other members of our team working towards diplomas, we continue to reinforce our position as a world leader in equine veterinary practice.
