We’ve recently received an update from The Moredun Foundation in Scotland regarding the Equine Grass Sickness (EGS) Biobank, informing us that they now have over 2,000 samples, including post-mortem samples from over 120 EGS cases and many controls, along with valuable metadata. This will greatly help researchers’ understanding of this debilitating and often fatal disease in horses.

We have been pleased to contribute samples to the Biobank and have helped with the organoid tissue cultures in our lab in Newmarket. The Moredun researchers are still keen to collect more material to further their research, so if you are a vet who is dealing with suspected cases of EGS, please contact our lab on 01638 663017, or visit The Moredun website, where there are separate pages with advice for vets and for horse owners.

In the meantime, a prize draw with some fantastic prizes is being organised by The Moredun Foundation to raise vital funds to support the work of  The Equine Grass Sickness Fund. Scan the QR code below to find out how to take part.
