We’re excited to announce a new collaboration between Rossdales Laboratories and the REIN In AMR initiative (Reporting Equine Infections and Non-susceptibility using In-vitro Antimicrobial Testing), a project led by Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance focused on advancing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance in horses.

We are partnering with REIN In AMR to share antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) data, supporting efforts to monitor and reduce AMR. This collaboration will help inform the development of streamlined platforms for collecting, supplying, and tracking equine AST data, ultimately strengthening surveillance and improving equine health outcomes.

The REIN In AMR initiative addresses the critical gap in UK equine veterinary AMR surveillance by

  • Capturing antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) data from private equine veterinary laboratories (PVLs)
  • Integrating equine PVL data with national surveillance initiatives
  • Contributing to the VMD’s Private Laboratories Initiative for AMR
  • Supporting One Health surveillance approaches
  • Improving risk assessment and response to emerging AMR threats
