Elevations are seen in the presence of muscle injury (exercise-induced, trauma/compression or other myopathies) and hepatopathy.
After a single episode of muscle injury, levels peak at 24-48 hours and return to baseline by 10-21 days, assuming that no further damage occurs.
Artefactual increases can be seen with haemolysis.
