Rossdales Image Sharing for Owners
If you would like copies of images taken of your animal by our diagnostic imaging services team, you may request these from the practice. Images taken at any veterinary practice remain the property of the veterinary practice taking them; this is universally applied across the veterinary and medical healthcare sectors. However, you are of course entitled to copies, prints, or other duplication documents that form any part of your animal’s medical history, including images.
Frequently asked questions
How do I ask for the images?
Please contact the hospital office (01638 577754) and ask for the images to be sent to you. You will be asked for a few details to enable us to send these to you and we may also check back with you to be sure that we have full consent to do this. If you would like images electronically we will need a valid email address.
Why is there an extra cost for this service?
The fees for imaging services that appear on your invoice include the fees for the imaging team to acquire the images and for the specialist interpretation by the clinician dealing with your animal. These fees do not include the cost for the provision of images direct to you.
What are the costs involved?
There is a necessary administration charge for posting of hard copies or for uploading electronic images to an internet file sending programme such as Dropbox. An administration fee is necessary as we see nearly 4,000 horses a year in the radiography department at Rossdales and a significant proportion of owners require copies of the images. We could increase our radiography fee across the board to account for this, but feel it would be unfair to those who do not require the images and complicated for the insurance companies (who do not reimburse for this service).
What format will the images be in?
We can print these and post them to you in hard copy but most people chose to have these sent electronically.
We can upload images to your email or dropbox in jpeg or pdf format. Please tell us what you would prefer.
Can my referring vet have access to the images?
We share all forms of diagnostic images with referring veterinary surgeons via a secure web-based service. There is no charge for this. Your referring vet will have a personal log-on to access our system securely. Unfortunately, for confidentiality reasons, we cannot offer this service to horse owners.
