Tim joined the practice in 1982 and became a partner in 1984. He retired as managing partner of the practice and as senior surgeon at Rossdales Equine Hospital in March 2016 and continues as a consultant to the practice.
Before joining Rossdales, Tim worked in the surgery department of Glasgow University Veterinary School and the Equine Research Station of the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket. He is interested in general and minimally invasive surgery, with a divided case load covering both orthopaedic and soft tissue problems.
Tim has enjoyed a number of highlights during his career, including being elected as President of the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA), British Veterinary Association (BVA) and World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA), and supervising the building of Rossdales Equine Hospital, which was completed in 1997 and opened by Her Majesty The Queen the following April.
He is an honorary member of BEVA, BVNA, and the British Association of Equine Dental Technicians (BAEDT) and in the past has been awarded the Richard Hartley Clinical Prize of the BEVA, the Centenary Award and the Chiron Award of the BVA and he gave the 6th Saki Paatsama lecture in Helsinki.
He has published and lectured widely around the world on equine surgical topics.
