Thomas joined the partnership at Rossdales in April 2016, having been a member of our horses in training team since June 2014, when he rejoined the practice after spending 18 months in the USA with Florida Equine Veterinary Associates in Ocala. During that time he worked predominantly with Thoroughbred horses-in-training, gaining invaluable experience in the two-year-old Thoroughbred capital of the US.
Before leaving for the USA, Thomas had worked at Rossdales with the racing team for a short period following completion of an 18 month internship at our Equine Hospital and Diagnostic Centre. Thomas had worked previously as an ambulatory associate at Scone Equine Hospital, Australia during the 2009 and 2010 southern hemisphere breeding seasons and also as an associate veterinary surgeon in stud medicine for Darley at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for the 2011 stud season.
On graduating from University College Dublin, he undertook a one-year ambulatory internship with Dr Ruel Cowles DVM in Lexington, Kentucky. Thomas is very familiar with the racing and stud industries, having been brought up on a National Hunt stud farm in Waterford, Ireland.
