She qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2001 and subsequently undertook a one year internship at the Animal Health Trust, focusing on orthopaedics and the poorly performing horse. She then spent three years undertaking a surgical residency at the University of Liverpool, focusing on referral orthopaedics, orthopaedic surgery and soft tissue surgery, upon completion of which she stayed on for a further year as a lecturer and clinician in Equine Orthopaedics. She was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ (RCVS) Certificate in Equine Surgery in 2005.
Sarah joined Rossdales in October 2006 and in the same year she became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. In 2007, she became an RCVS Specialist in Equine Surgery. As an orthopaedic specialist at Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre, she deals with secondary and tertiary orthopaedic referral work and her case load is primarily competition horses and general purpose riding horses. Sarah is also one of the five surgeons at Rossdales with a keen interest in emergency surgery.
Sarah joined the partnership at Rossdales in 2012. She speaks regularly at national and international veterinary meetings, has papers published in major equine journals and has also contributed to several leading equine text books. She has been an examiner of candidates sitting the RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery and is currently an examiner of candidates sitting to become Diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.
In 2012, she worked in the veterinary clinic at the Paralympics in London. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in triathlons, and walking her dogs.
In January 2018, Sarah passed her exams to become a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR). There are only 12 such ACVSMR (Equine) Diplomates within the UK and only 5 within the UK that have both ACVSMR and ECVS credentials.
