Since Peter Rossdale established Rossdale & Partners in 1959, it has developed into an internationally renowned equine veterinary practice that is now the largest in the United Kingdom, with 25 clinicians working from two locations.
Originally formed and based at Beaufort Cottage Stables in Newmarket, from where the ambulatory practice still operates, Rossdale & Partners service the large local equine population. The Newmarket area is the headquarters of the United Kingdoms Thoroughbred racing, breeding and sales industries.
A second site at Exning was commissioned in 1991. Developed in association with Exning Estates, Beaufort Cottage Diagnostic Centre provides state of the art clinical diagnostic facilities. These include a digital radiography suite, a gamma camera, video-endoscopic and ultrasonographic suites, including expert cardiological assessments. Two specialist farriers work at our forge providing, with our orthopaedic surgeons, a surgical farriery service. A dedicated sports injury service for performance horses is now available.
In 1997 a purpose-built equine Hospital was completed at the Exning site, providing surgical, medical, neonatal and intensive care facilities. The project was the result of further co-operation between the practice and Exning Estates. Her Majesty The Queen opened the Hospital in April 1998.

Since its inception, practice policy has been to provide a high quality service, by dedicated veterinary surgeons, most of whom have developed special interests, supported by an excellent team of lay staff. This has not only ensured the creation of one of the largest Thoroughbred practices in Europe but has also provided the expertise to develop a large referral practice dealing with all types of equine patient.
The Partners look forward to the future with optimism and enthusiasm in the expectation that investment in the practice, both in terms of technology and human resources, will provide an ever-improving service to their clients: horse owners, trainers, riders, drivers, breeders and an ever increasing number of veterinary surgeons, from all over the UK and mainland Europe, who wish to refer their patients or samples from their patients for detailed investigations or treatments.
