Newmarket Orthopaedic Discussion Group

This informal group meets on around the third Thursday of each month (unless otherwise stated) to discuss contemporary issues in equine orthopaedics, as well as interesting areas of cross-over from other species. The target audience is experienced clinicians and academics, to ensure a high level of discussion. It is not basic CPD, but there will be useful information for the less experienced and specialised. Thanks to sponsorship from the Beaufort Cottage Educational Trust, there is no charge for attendance. All veterinary surgeons, farriers, nurses and students are welcome. Meetings will take place in the Simon Gibson Room, Rossdales Equine Hospital, and will start at 6.30pm, unless otherwise stated.

Thursday, 16th September - Orthopaedic Problems in Polo Ponies

Bruce Middleton MA, VetMB, MRCVS
Bruce Middleton, a highly experienced polo vet, will discuss the common problems found in this rather unique sport, and how the management of these injuries differs from 'normal' horses. A knowledge of Spanish will be advantageous, although not essential.
