Faecal analysis is helpful in providing worm egg counts to help monitor parasite control programmes and to investigate cases of diarrhoea and septic enterocolitis.

Our worm egg counting remains the basis of intestinal parasitic surveillance and monitoring of worm control programmes. However, it is not always a reliable means of assessing an individual horse, for which haematological and serum protein analysis may be more informative.
