Serology
Feed Allergen Precipitin tests are available and may be useful in cases of allergic dermatological or enteric disease. We can test serum samples against our panel of standard equine food allergens. Alternatively, representative samples of all the feed constituents should be sent for specific allergen manufacture, in addition to a serum sample.
Fungal Allergen Precipitin tests are available and may be useful in cases of allergic pulmonary disease.
Brucella antibodies are detected using S.A.T. and Coombs (AGT) tests.

Haemolytic antibodies may be detected in the serum of mares during the last few months of pregnancy, when carrying a potentially haemolytic foal.
Antiglobulin (Coombs) tests are used to detect incompatibilities between new-born foal erythrocytes (sequestrene samples) and maternal serum and are used to detect autoimmune disease in some adult anaemias.
