Rossdales & Partners' Internship programme was developed to provide post-graduates with comprehensive experience of a busy equine practice to enable them to enter private practice or apply for a residency programme within academia. Two salaried internship posts become available each year and are based at our Equine Hospital & Diagnostic Centre, one starting in February and one in August.
The 18-month programme is split into three periods of six months, to allow interns to gain experience in distinct areas of equine veterinary work.
Applications for two internship positions, commencing August 2012 and February 2013 respectively, are now closed. Details of how and when to apply for our next vacancies will appear here in due course.
This position is distinct from the rotating internships described above, offering a more specialised opportunity for less experienced veterinary surgeons. The position has been filled for 2012 and 2013. The next available vacancy will be for a position commencing in August 2014. Details about how and when to apply will appear here in due course.
The Imaging Internship is open to veterinary graduates who are members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and would suit new or recent graduates who are keen to improve theoretical and practical knowledge of diagnostic imaging in the horse. Foreign veterinary graduates, with a good level of English, are welcome to apply.
The internship is based at the Diagnostic Centre and is for a period of twelve months. The main role is taking radiographs in our clinic-based unit using our CR system, working in co-operation with our two radiographers. The Diagnostic Centre intern also assists in the acquisition of scintigraphy images and with the magnetic resonance imaging unit (MRI). The amount of time spent and thus experience gained in each area will vary from day-to-day according to the caseload for each unit.
There will also be opportunities to participate in the clinical assessment of cases when workloads in other areas permit and the imaging intern will join the hospital out-of hours rota. Thus there will be exposure to and experience of a wide variety of cases and conditions.
The partner responsible for appointments to this position is Andy Bathe, MRCVS. Enquiries about the role should be addressed to his assistant, Alice Chatham.
Please note: currently we do not offer a Surgical Residency Programme.
