Rossdales Equine Hospital handles a large number of referrals and emergency cases and is staffed by clinicians who specialise in equine surgery and medicine.
Our Equine Hospital admits referral and emergency cases for surgical, medical and lameness conditions 24 hours a day. It includes two operating theatres, one dedicated for orthopaedic surgeryand the other for the remaining case load. Further facilities include anaesthetic boxes (linked by an overhead rail system to the operating theatres), an examination hall with stocks and two examination rooms.
Staffed by highly experienced veterinary experts and a strong nursing team, horses are seen either as out-patients, or can be hospitalised in our general stabling areas, intensive care boxes or isolation unit, depending on their needs. The intensive care and neonatal units are designed so that critically ill patients can be monitored closely 24 hours a day and our internal medicine facilities offer the most advanced equipment available for diagnosis and for providing supportive care.
The hospital staff work in close co-operation with the team at our state of the art Diagnostic Centre, which is adjacent to the hospital. Horses can be transferred easily between the two sites, where this is appropriate for investigative or surgical procedures.
The Diagnostic Centre is pivotal for the large number of medical, orthopaedic and surgical referrals we receive from veterinary practices nationwide and from the EU. The addition of this building in 2008 to our existing facilities means our first class team of diagnostic clinicians have access to a wide range of the most sophisticated diagnostic facilities available, not only in the UK, but in the world.
The proximity of the hospital to the extensive laboratory facilities and expertise at Beaufort Cottage Laboratories complements the clinical medicine services available at the hospital.
